The ORA-12222 error is caused when the ORACLE_HOME system environment variable is explicitly set to one of the Oracle home locations set, which causes Oracle Forms/Reports elements to look for DLLs from the Help Desk in the wrong path.
When using Ford Oracle Homes on Windows platforms, the ORACLE_HOME variable must not be uniquely set in user or system environment variables.
To check if my ORACLE_HOME variable is set in user system environment variables in some cases:
– Right-click My Computer on the Windows desktop. – Select “Properties”. – Then click on the “Advanced” tab. Next, select the “Environment Variables” checkbox. – Find the editable ORACLE_HOME.
in the “Or user system environment variables” sections.
– click pright-click on the “My Computer” icon in the desktop window. – Select “Properties”. – Then click on the “Advanced” tab. Next, click the “Environment Variables” button. – Locate the ORACLE_HOME variable under User System Environment Variables. – If found, highlight/select the specific ORACLE_HOME variable and remove the items using the “Delete” button at the bottom of each respective panel.
Important: Windows on 2003 servers, it is also important to safely restart the Windows server to set the ORACLE_HOME variable.
