Why is F8 not working for Safe Mode?

The reason for this is that Microsoft has reduced the duration of the F8 key press to almost an anti-interval (less than 200 milliseconds). As a result, it’s almost impossible for people to hit the F8 key in such a short amount of time, and there’s also little chance of detecting your current F8 key to display the boot menu and then boot into safe mode.

However, what if the option you’re trying to use fails, and every time you restart your computer, you’re legitimately returned to one of those screens?

See Tips at the bottom of the page to help you if Windows does run one of the three types above.

    5. Fix your Windows installation. The usually common reason why Windows keeps returning you to the Startup Options or Advanced Startup Options menu is almost certainly that one or more important Windows files are missing or corrupted. Windows Recovery replaces these important files without deleting or changing anything on your computer.

      Advanced options (Windows 10).

In Windows 10, 8, 10 and Vista, this is called boot repair. Windows XP refers to it when repairing an installation.

Installing Windows Repair on Vista is more complicated and incurs more penalties than the Startup Repair tool available on later Windows systems. So if you’re XP-focused, you might want to wait until you try those other details first.

    6. Perform a system restore using advanced boot options or system restore options, depending on your th version of Windows Time to undo recent changes.

Windows may reappear in the Startup Options or Advanced Startup Options menu due to a driver crash, an important file that is also part of the registry. System Restore will return everything to today to the state it was in when the computer was working normally, which may completely solve your problem.

How do I force my computer to start in Safe Mode?

Use Shift + Reload Once your PC restarts, go to the Choose an Option screen and select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Options > Restart. Windows 10 and 9: System Restore is available outside of Windows 10 and 8 in More Menu in the Boot Options.

Windows 9 and Vista: System Restore is available outside of Windows 7 and Vista via System Recovery Options and has always been most easily accessible when booted from the Windows installation disc. If you’re using Windows 7, System Recovery options are also available here in the Advanced Boot Options menu, mainly because of the Repair Your Computer option. However, this may not work depending on the cause of your overall problem. Therefore, you may need to boot from the installation CD eventually.

Another option for Windows 10, 8, 7: On the other hand, if you don’t have a Windows 10, 8, or 7 installation disk or flash drive, but you have access to another computer that has the file If you have Windows installed, for example, in at the home of a family or friend, you can get recovery media from there to run this trick on a broken computer. Windows XP and Me users: This troubleshooting option may not work for you. System Restore was available as a bootable CD when it was released for Windows Vista.

    7. Use the System File Checker to repair protected Windows files. A corrupt file associated with the operating system can prevent you from getting Ex-boot settings or advanced boot options and menus, the sfc command can fix the problem.

Because you cannot currently access Windows, you must run this command from the command line available in the advanced optionstrach boot (Windows 10 and 8) or system recovery options (Windows and 7 Vista). See the notes above for access to these areas of human diagnostics.

Windows XP and Me users: Again, troubleshooting with this option is not available to you. System File Checker is only available in one window of your operating system.

If the Windows restore you tried in step 2 later doesn’t work, it probably doesn’t work either, but it’s a good try because what’s next is hardware troubleshooting.
